XEOMIN Study Results

xemonin 105

XEOMIN is a medication that has been both FDA approved and clinically proven to improve the appearance of facial lines in adults. Many popular botulinum products have been used over the years, with the most commonly known being BOTOX for filling in lines and wrinkles, especially as they appear on the face. XEOMIN is a new botulinum product that is used in the same manner as BOTOX, to fill in those areas of concern for patients who are experiencing moderate to severe wrinkles and lines that they would rather be rid of.

A head-to-head study was recently conducted which included treating physicians, treated patients and an independent review panel to determine the results of XEOMIN and how it compares to BOTOX treatments over a  4 month post-treatment period. The study was conducted to compare how the relatively new XEOMIN compares with the popular BOTOX treatments, which so many patients have sought over the years.

The study was designed as a randomized, double blinded parallel trial in which subjects of both XEOMIN and BOTOX treatments were studied. A total of 250 female patients of good health who were all 18 years of age or older and suffering from glabella lines ranging from moderate severity to maximum frown severity were studied and observed. Out of the 250 studied patients, 122 of them were treated with 20 units of XEOMIN each while 128 were treated with 20 units of BOTOX during a single treatment cycle. The median age of both groups was 41 years of age.

All patients were evaluated post treatment to determine if they had at least a 1 point improvement post treatment. The overall results showed no reported difference in patient satisfaction between BOTOX and XEOMIN, neither at 1 month, 2 months, 3 months or 4 months post treatment.

At the Laser, Lipo & Vein Center, we treat patients who are suffering from a wide range of facial issues including fine lines and wrinkles that can be treated with XEOMIN. We also treat sagging skin, skin that is showing signs of hyperpigmentation, skin with acne scarring, and skin with age spots and sun spots that are causing a patient to look and feel older than they are.
