Liposuction Lowering Risk of Heart Disease?
A recent study showed that patients undergoing liposuction will not only get the benefits of shedding a few pounds, but that the procedure may also lower the risk of heart disease. This study looked a cholesterol levels and “bad fats,” or triglycerides, in a group of patients undergoing liposuction. Patients who had elevated triglyceride levels prior to liposuction came away with an approximate 43 percent reduction in these levels after the procedures. These patients did not have any changes in their cholesterol levels, but researches did find a reduction in white blood cells after the Lipo procedures. The clinical significance of a decrease in white blood cells is unknown but the cells are associated with inflammation and might play a role in heart attacks and stroke. [1]
