As we begin to age, we start seeing signs of aging, such as drooping brows. Because our eyes are the windows to our souls, as it is often said, we want to make sure we don’t look tired or even sad. In some cases, drooping brows may even be genetic. No matter the case, you may be looking for ways to make your eyebrows look more lifted. While surgical remedies for brow lift are the most effective, several other remedies have come to light. Some work, some not so much. Here’s a look at some of the more popular alternatives to surgical brow lifts.
BOTOX
BOTOX is generally used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and creases. However, it has recently been touted as a method to lift eyebrows. Because BOTOX works by relaxing the muscles, and eyelid position is maintained by muscles, the proper placement of BOTOX can weaken the muscles that pulls the eyebrows down, thus reducing the droopy eyebrow look.
Brow Lift Tape
There are several tape products available that claim to pull up and reshape the eyelids by pulling up the extra skin that may be causing the eyebrow droop. While these are advertised as a low-cost alternative, they are just not a serious solution. This solution will only last a few hours, can cause skin irritation, and usually needs to be camouflaged under the hair or with make up.
Injectable Fillers
Fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, and Radiesse have been somewhat effective in raising droopy eyebrows. This is because they produce a “fuller” appearance to the treatment area, as well as plumping and lifting sagging skin.
Brow Lifting Creams
Lift creams claim that they can lift, tighten, and firm the skin in the eye area and eyebrows. However, there is no supporting evidence that these creams will actually lift the brow area. While there may be some improvement in tone and texture of the skin, there will be minimal tightening that can lift the brow.
