One of the fastest growing procedures is within the area of female genital surgery — pubic liposuction and labia reconstruction. One of the reasons this increase is being seen is due to fashion trends that are leaning towards tighter, more form-fitting clothing, including skinny jeans. In some cases, women are experience that unattractive “camel toe” and may choose surgery to accentuate the appearance of their pubic region.
The Labia / Mons Pubis Lipo Procedure
The labia lipo procedure will actually remove excess fat to sculpt the mons pubis and/or labia majora. During a mons pubis lipo procedure, the excess fat that is located in the pubic region will be gently removed through an advanced lipo procedure. During a tumescent liposuction technique, a solution of anesthetics and adrenaline will be injected. This solution will control bleeding as well as dissolving and loosening the fat that will then be gently suctioned away.
Labiaplasty
In addition to removing the excess fat, many clients also choose to undergo labiaplasty or labia reduction. This is a cosmetic procedure that can enhance the appearance of the labia minora and/or the labia majora. Often women may be displeased with the look of their labia. Additionally, in some cases the labia can be uncomfortable and/or cause problems with wearing certain types of clothing, such as the now popular skin-tight jeans and leggings.
With labiaplasty, the labia can be sculpted to reduce an elongated labia or unequally size vaginal lips. Many clients seek reduction of the labia when they have situations such as the inner lips projecting beyond the larger outer lips.
During a labiaplasty surgery, a local anesthetic is administered and small incisions are made to remove and sculpt the labial tissue. The incisions are placed in inconspicuous locations. Generally, the incisions are sutured using dissolving sutures that won’t require removal. After the procedure, you may be required to wear a sanitary-type pad due to drainage and to provide protection.
Post-Op Recovery After Labiaplasty Surgery
After these procedures, you may experience some swelling, bruising or pain. You may also have a temporary loss of sensation, which should return to normal after a short period of time. Any pain is usually managed with a mild pain medication. Normal activities can usually be resumed within a few days; however, strenuous activity and tight-fitting clothes should be avoided for several weeks. Also, there should be no sexual intercourse for about four to six weeks.
