Restylane Lyft is an injectable gel that can increase volume and facial wrinkles. It was previously marketed under the name Perlane-L. The approval from the FDA makes the product the only FDA-approved filler to correct and smooth nasolabial folds, as well as to provide mid-facial area fullness.

During a recent clinical trial of Restylane, researchers found that 88.7% of 200 patients treated with Restylane Lyft experienced an improvement in fullness in the midface areas at two months. At 12 months, more than half of the patients showed that the improvement was maintained. Overall, the study found that at two months, 95% of the patients reported appearance improvements, with 73% of patients reporting improvement at 12 months.

Achieving a natural look in the cheek area is one of the most common requests made by patients. The clinical study results show that Restylane Lyft provides this option by giving both a lifting effect in conjunction with the benefit of providing fullness in the mid-facial areas.

Very few side effects were reported with the use of Restylane Lyft. Some common side effects include redness, bruising, swelling and itching — most of which resolved themselves within two weeks.

Dr. Thomas Wright, medical director of Laser Lipo and Vein Center says that this new FDA approval of Restylane Lyft as a procedure to lift and enhance the facial area is good news for patients. “With the compelling results of the clinical trial, patients can now experience great, long-lasting results through Restylane Lyft,” he says. He continues saying, “I often receive requests from patients who want a natural looking lift to the cheek area, and now with Restylane Lyft, safe, predictable results can be achieved.”
