There are some great debates such as Coke versus Pepsi, or Windows versus Mac. Now, the difference between Botox and Dysport, or Xeomin doesn’t really need to take on a life of its own. Here’s a quick look at the difference between these cosmetic procedures, and finding the one that will be the best for you.

All three — Dysport, Xeomin, and Botox — are all injectable neuromodulators. Neuromodulators temporarily alter the nerves of target muscles to reduce contractions, which can produce wrinkles. Each is manufactured by different companies: Allergan manufactures Botox, Medicis manufactures Dysport and Merz manufactures Xeomin.

Each product has a different composition of the same substance: Botulinum Toxin A or bacterium Clostridum Botulinum, and all three work in the same way by blocking the nerve impulses of the muscles into which the substance is injected.

The most common areas for treatment include the frown lines between the eyebrows and the horizontal lines that form on the forehead. Other areas that can be treated by Botox, Dysport and Xeomin include nasal squint lines, crow’s feet, eyebrow lift, and lines around the neck. These products can also be used to treat migraines and excessive sweating.

What’s the Difference Between Dysport and Botox and Xeomin

There are some subtle differences between the three products. For instance, Xeomin does not have any additives and is called a naked neuromodulator. Patients may see a difference in the time it takes to see results. Research has shown that it can take Botox up to five days for results to appear, while Dysport can show results within a couple of day’s. Additionally, Dysport results may last longer than Botox. Studies indicated that Dysport injections can last up to a year, while Botox lasts between three and six months.

Dysport has also been shown to diffuse a bit more over a treatment area, making it a better option for correcting a lot of wrinkles, such as crow’s feet.

Many patients are concerned about getting natural looking results, or the “Botox-gone-bad look”. However, these negative results are often the results of a doctor’s injection skills, rather than the injection itself. This is why it is very important to find a physician who is skilled and knowledgeable with injectables.

Dr. Thomas Wright and his staff at Laser Lipo and Vein are all very skilled and experienced in all three injectibles. He can answer all your questions, and help you chose the procedure that is best for you. Call us today for a complimentary consultation.
