If you are seeking an effective and relatively easy way to rejuvenate your skin, you may want to consider a chemical peel treatment. During a chemical peel, a layer of skin is removed using a chemical solution. This skin removal will allow newer, rejuvenated skin to replace it. You will be left with fresher, younger looking skin. Chemical peels can also help:
• Remove age spots, pigmentation or freckles
• Even out skin tone
• Brighten the overall skin
• Reduce the appearance of fine lines
• Eliminate or smooth away acne or other similar scars
There are some circumstances where chemical peels are used in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures, such as facelifts, to correct and rejuvenate overall skin tone and texture.
Chemical Peel Procedures
There are actually three different types of chemical peels, each with its own benefits: light, medium, and heavy/deep peels. Each type of peel will eliminate dead cells and rejuvenate the skin at different depths. Depending upon your individual skin and desired results, either a single chemical or a combination of several will be used. At Laser Lipo and Veins, we will determine which peel will provide the benefits you want.
There is no need for any anesthetic, unless you will be receiving a deep peel. During the treatment, the chemical solution is applied to the facial area. You will feel either a cool or warm sensation and the dead skin will immediately begin to peel. You may also feel a slight stinging sensation.
After the Chemical Peel Procedure
Depending on the type of peel, you may see some after effects. With a mild peel, you may see some mild redness and scaling. With medium or deep peels, a sunburn-like sensation and look may be experience, along with blistering and peeling of the skin. It is important to note that these after effects are completely normal and should be expected. After the peel procedure, you should avoid wearing makeup for about a week, and you will also be instructed to wear sunblock to protect your newly emerging skin.
At Laser Lipo and Vein Center, we offer many different types of chemical peels. We invite you to schedule a consultation today to discuss the type of skin you have and the results that you want. During our consultation, we will discuss not only the procedure itself, but also the cost and recovery time you can expect.
